8:30 AMIrvinI Would Have Refinished This Bedroom Furniture Sooner If I knew how easy it was going to be. It literally was not hard and with the awesome supplies we can get at Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart now days its easier and so much more affordable than ever before.
Supplies:
1. TSP (use this before painting any surface - no sanding necessary)
2. Rustoleum 2X Spray Paint (its a primer & paint in one)
3. 220 & 600 Grit Sandpaper
4. Minwax Polycrylic -Satin Clear Finish
5. 3 CLEAN RAGS:
- dry rag
- wet rag
- rag to use with TSP
I started by taping off the drawers and then decided not to even mess with taping off anything as time went on because it didn't really need it.
6 EASY STEPS TO BEAUTIFUL REPAINTED FURNITURE:
Step 1: Clean all the surfaces with TSP. Then Wipe the TSP off with a clean damp rag.
Step 2: (optional) Sand any chipping paint areas and lightly sand the main surfaces if you think they need it. (my furniture had a lot of chipping paint so I wanted to just kind of smooth out those areas before painting) But I did very little sanding.
Step 3: Clean off all the dust from furniture before paining.
Step 4: Paint the furniture with light even strokes. Give a little bit of dry time (go get a drink and little snack then it should be ready for second coat) Dive it a second coat to make sure you didnt miss any spots. Then let it dry to touch.
Step 5: Spray the Polycrylic on the newly painted furniture. Let dry all the way
Step 6: Use the 600 Grit Wet sand paper to wet sand the tops of the furniture to give it a super smooth feel.
Step 7: ENJOY!
