Creating Real Memories...That Really Last

We caught a chipmunk and saved a duck.  We saw hundreds of birds and wildlife right outside our condo balcony and the window.  We absolutely love going to Eagle Point.  This trip was everything it looks like it was...SO MUCH FUN!  We road the Razor, went hiking, Kayaking and Canoeing, and Mountain Biking.

But, going on vacation with three kids can be a total nightmare...planning, packing, food shopping, food packing, loading the car, making sure the car is mechanically ready, gas tank full, snacks & movies for the road and then actually getting on the road at the time planned is absolutely impossible for us!  But the anticipation of the fun, the excitement and the memories we are going to have is the motivation.

Once we finally get there (usually 6-8 hours behind schedule) I still have to be a mom.  It's not a vacation from being the cook, fashion designer, event planner, discipliner, nurse, mediator, photographer/videographer (making sure to capture all the "good" stuff) etc... just so I can come home and spend hours editing, cutting and putting together a video so we can remember the fun stuff.

I am not trying to show that we only have fun or that we never fight or have breakdowns, but I DO want to remember the good stuff.  I also don't show the times that we are having family devotionals or family prayers at night, reading the scriptures, or teaching the kids the "important" things I promised Heavenly Father I would teach them.

All experiences (good & bad) are not shown in our videos but, believe me, they are remembered deep down in the core of our being.  Our kids remember them.  I know that making memories are important for families. Wether it's up in the mountains, at the beach, in our back yard or even the living room...these are the experiences that will be remembered deep down in our hearts.

I want my kids to remember the good stuff, that is why I make videos.  I want them to be able to look back and KNOW that these are the times to hold dear to their hearts.  These are the events in their lives that will help them remember who they are and where they came from.
